I first tried this recipe after seeing it online. The family loved it. I have made it several times since. This recipe has instantly become a frequently requested treat. I made it for a consignment bake sale, and had someone contact me requesting the recipe. It is super easy. If you can make rice krispies, you can make these. I got the idea here… https://athriftymom.com/chewy-smore-bars-crunchy-gooey-goodness-smore-recipe/ …
But I changed it a little….
(This is for a double batch)
1.5 sticks of unsalted butter
2 – 10 ounce bags of mini marshmallows
2-boxes of s’mores cereal
I used a big soup pot and heated 1.5 sticks of unsalted butter in the bottom until melted.
Then I added 2 -10 ounce bags of Jetpuff mini marshmallows into the pot and let them simmer on medium until a little bubbly, stirring often, more often towards the end so that they do not burn.
Once bubbly, turn off heat and add 2 boxes of post s’mores cereal, I think they are 17 ounces (or 1 bag of the s’mores cereal about 30 ounces). I know they do not add up to double the amount. They will just be more gooey.
Stir until everything is combined and dump into a greased pan lined with greased wax or parchment paper (or in the case for the picture, I was out of both and used greased foil). Press down with more greased wax paper. Wait for it to harden a little then cut into squares.
Super easy.
Just like rice krispies, just change the cereal.
