Our front bushes were in desperate need of trimming. Jeff did most of the major work and then called some of the kids out to help with cleaning up the branches that were on the ground. We often don’t think about what is living in our bushes, but there is a whole bunch of surprising creatures in there.
These are some that the kids found while cleaning up… One is a cute harmless inchworm and the other is a vicious predator, the assassin bug. Of course we looked them up and discussed their habits and if they are poisonous or not.
They also found this empty birds nest. We already knew that the finches and sparrows like to nest in the bushes (and the brown headed cow birds), but it was cool seeing the nest up close.
