I am so proud of our good boy, Gus!
I saw him out near the back fence nudging, and lifting, and nudging more, something that didn’t look right… maybe a hawk, a chicken, or a bunny. I called for him to “bring it here”. He looked at me with a strange look, so I said it again. With that, he picked it up and ran up to the door. Then I told him to drop it. He immediately dropped it.
It was a dead wild rabbit. No signs of trauma, but lots of thing can kill a bunny. They can scare easily and have a heart attack, disease, or poison. I am so glad he didn’t eat that already dead rabbit.
I think he was trying to figure out if it was one of ours or how it got out of the cage.
He sure has come a long way from last year… when he was told to drop the wild rabbit, but instead swallowed it whole like an alligator.. to nudging, bringing and dropping on command. I think our bunnies are part of his domain that he watches. He always checks on them. So finding one in trouble made him concerned.
By the way, Gus turned 2 last week.
